Campus Safety Ambassadors are peer leaders and campus safety advocates. Your voice and presence will shape how people around you think about safety. The program is open to undergraduate and graduate students and requires four meetings plus 10-15 volunteer hours per semester.

  • Promote safety awareness - Represent OPS and help your peers understand the role they play in campus safety by tabling at events, resource fairs and campus initiatives throughout the semester.

  • Contribute to social media content - Work on short videos, event highlights and safety tips that make safety feel relevant and accessible to your peers.
  • Support flagship events - Contribute to planning, execution and outreach of events like the Wildcat Safety Fair, helping people discover safety resources they didn't know existed.

  • Build relationships across campus - Connect with student organizations, campus partners and university staff to increase safety engagement.

You don't need a background in public safety to make a difference. Ambassadors bring fresh perspectives and real experiences - and leave with skills, connections and knowledge that carries well beyond campus.

  • Inside knowledge - Go behind the scenes of campus safety through monthly Ambassador meetings/learning sessions with OPS teams, from emergency response to campus policing. It's a chance to ask questions, meet the people doing this work every day, and deepen your understanding of what campus safety actually involves.

  • Communication skills - Build interpersonal and public speaking skills through direct, real-world engagement with a range of audiences.
  • Event experience - Gain hands-on practice in outreach, coordination and event execution — skills that transfer across career paths.

  • Professional network - Form meaningful connections with campus partners and university staff while creating a safer environment.
