About the Office of Public Safety
The Office of Public Safety at the University of Arizona was established in May 2023 to protect and advance the safety of the University’s community.
Through a comprehensive approach encompassing education, awareness, and enforcement, our team, consisting of the University of Arizona Police Department, the Threat Assessment & Management Team, Facilities Management, Risk Management, Parking & Transportation, and Emergency Management, strives to maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive community.
Members of the Office of Public Safety routinely work in coordination with and benefit from the support of several other units including but not limited to, the Dean of Students Office, Human Resources, Office of Diversity & Inclusion, and Counseling & Psych Services.
We are committed to maintaining an inclusive environment and safe spaces for all members of the university community by implementing proactive strategies to ensure the well-being and security of students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
A safe environment is essential for effective learning and growth. Our focus is on maintaining an atmosphere that fosters academic success by addressing safety concerns promptly and efficiently.
Empower through Education
Knowledge is power. We are dedicated to equipping the University community with the necessary information and skills to make informed decisions regarding personal safety, emergency preparedness, and crime prevention by offering comprehensive educational programs, training, and workshops.
We strive to create a culture of awareness and vigilance within the university community. Toward this end, we act to foster open dialogue, promote diversity and inclusivity, engage in community-oriented initiatives, and encourage collaboration, empathy, and respect within the University and its individual units, and among all individuals.
Listen & Respond
We value the voices of our university community. Everyone plays an important and active role in campus safety. Through community engagement programs, meetings, forums and more, we actively listen to concerns, feedback and suggestions of students, faculty, staff and visitors and use this information to continually improve our safety initiatives. We know that by prioritizing communication and engagement in meaningful dialogue, we build trust and create a sense of ownership in the safety of our campus.
We believe in open and honest communication with the university community. We strive to maintain transparency in our processes, policies, and actions. By providing clear and accessible information, we foster trust and accountability, ensure the community is informed and involved in matters of safety.
