Building Access and Core Hours
Keyless Access
The university has established core building hours Monday-Friday (excluding university holidays) for high-traffic academic buildings on the main campus in Tucson. These buildings have also been updated with a keyless lock system and enhanced building access and security that requires using your CatCard for entry.
Note: If you have an physical key to any exterior door, please return it to the Facilities Management Lock Shop for any building that has been transitioned to a keyless entry system.
If you have trouble accessing a building with your CatCard, please call 520-626-9345 and select from the menu.
For questions about buildings included on this list, contact the Office of the Registrar.
What you need to know to access your building
During the core building hours, exterior doors to the building will be unlocked for entry and exit. Any door may be used to exit the building at any time.
- Most buildings will be open 7 a.m.–6:30 p.m. However, some buildings have designated alternate hours. Please check the details for the building(s) you use.
- Outside of the core building hours, exterior doors will be locked for entry, and a CatCard is needed to access the building via the keyless entry system.
- Your CatCard will only allow access to building(s) assigned to you by your department access coordinator.
- For co-curricular activities or classes scheduled outside of core building hours a primary entrance has been designated to be unlocked for access to reserved spaces.
