Nate Gahr
Nate Gahr is Senior Director, International Safety Investigations, focused on international travel safety, academic freedom and research security. Nate joined the University of Arizona in 2022, establishing RII’s National Security Programs team.
Prior to joining the university, Nate spent more than 25 years in various leadership roles in the US Army, the Department of Justice and the US Intelligence Community including establishing the FBI Phoenix Field Office’s Counterintelligence Joint Taskforce. At the taskforce, he led a diverse team from numerous federal, state and local agencies along with community partners, to protect National Security interests throughout Arizona with a special focus on advance conventional weapons counter proliferation.
As a US Army Infantry officer, Nate led various infantry units in the 101st Airborne Division and the 6th Ranger Training Battalion. As an environmental scientist in the private sector, Nate led numerous projects including large scale remediation efforts, compliance surveys, liner projects and anthrax sampling in the National Capital Region in 2001.
