Family Weekend 2024 is October 25-27. The Office of Public Safety leaders and team members are on campus every day and are participating in various Family Weekend events, so please make sure to say “hello” if you see us! We look forward to meeting you.

Family Weekend Safety Events

Safety Stroll with Chief Safety Officer Steve Patterson – *Family Weekend Signature Event*

Learn more and register

Join Chief Safety Officer Steve Patterson and other public safety leaders for an overview of safety resources and a walk through main campus to help identify areas of concern or areas where the university could make safety improvements. Questions and suggestions are encouraged! 

OPS offers safety strolls for students twice a semester. Fall 2024 strolls: October 15 & November 12.

All students & families welcome! Join us for a Q & A and learn about best practices on safety with Chief of Police Chris Olson and Jessie Semmann, director of Threat Assessment and Management.

The University of Arizona Police Department strives to provide the highest level of police services through high visibility engagement, crime prevention programs and education, technological initiatives, community collaboration and regional partnerships. UAPD works to maintain a safe and inclusive environment for all members of our community and believes transparency in their processes, policies and actions fosters trust and accountability.

The Threat Assessment and Management Team is a multidisciplinary group of faculty and staff that reviews reports about concerning behaviors; considers various approaches to managing concerning behavior; and provides guidance to students, faculty and staff regarding how to address and prevent violent and disruptive behavior.
